Paul Wong produced a 30-second, 60-second and 2-minute version of a television commercial for the “Unite Against Racism” campaign organized by the Canadian Race Relations Foundation in Toronto. Wong was one of six artists invited to produce work that addressed racism as it still exists in Canada today. He chose to focus on the 2000 graduating class at Charles Tupper High School in Vancouver where Wong himself had graduated. Using rapid edit, sound mixing, audio overlay where the students face the camera and repeat slogans such as “I am a refugee”, the effect is more that of a rock video than a Public Service Announcement.
