The Yellow Peril
(1980 - ) Paul Wong
is a work in progress using video, color & b/w photography, history, writing and audio. The video images tonite were recorded in the spring of 1986 in the Toi San area of Guangdong province not far from the South China Sea. These tapes are a continuation of images produced here in Canada and a previous journey to China in 1982. CHINAVISION is on immigration, emigration = cultural displacement.

HOMELANDS 1985-86 Joolz & Paul Wong (6:30) stereo
Written and produced during Joolz artist-in-residence at the Western Front in October 1985. HOMELANDS is anti-Thatcher, it's domestic and foreign policies. The tape is anti-repression, oppression, anti-poverty and anti-apartheid.

is a Bradford (England) poet, storyteller and often a standup comic - she is rough, tough and a streetwise one woman riot. A victim and survivor of rock culture. Damned and cherished she alienated and cultivated sold out audiences during her North American debut concerts here in Vancouver last year. Ordered back to deliver more, she was one of the highlites of the 9th Folkfestival with additional concerts at the Luv Affair, La Quena and appears here tonite courtesy of Total Obnoxious Management. In August she releases 'her 4th record ‘MAD, BAD AND DANGEROUS TO KNOW’ (EMI), in addition to her first book of poems and drawings (VIRGIN Books). Her records are available locally at ZULU.
